FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol," and it's just one of the several widely-used Internet services. Two others, which you're probably already familiar with, are the Web and email.
FTP is for sending files back and forth between one computer and another. For Albumatic's purposes, we're interested mostly in just the "forth" part: from your computer to the one that's hosting your Web site. Although your album will ultimately be viewed with a Web browser (any one will do), the HTML and photo files have to first get to your Web site, and that's what FTP is for.
Fortunately, you don't have to know anything about FTP utility programs or commands to use Albumatic, because everything is built-in, just as it is for high-end Web design programs such as FrontPage.
For instructions on setting up Albumatic for FTPing, see FTP Setup.
